Padstow Sailing Club was formed in 1965. For many years it was based in a clubhouse situated on the Quay adjacent to the old Harbour Office.

In March 1999, after a number of years of uncertain tenure, the club was required to relocate to make way for the current Harbour Office.

The Club Committee and the 90 club members spent some time giving consideration to alternative sites. Eventually, the members agreed at an extraordinary general meeting to acquire and convert the Blockhouse, a WW2 gun emplacement located at the Padstow end of the Camel Trail.

The Blockhouse was in a derelict state and the lengthy process of raising the required funds, obtaining planning consent and carrying out major building works meant that the new Clubhouse did not become fully operational until 2004.

Since 2004 many further improvements have been made. In 2011 on a site adjacent to the Blockhouse, the Club added a purpose built ground floor storeroom with showers and changing facilities on the first floor.

Membership is now around 250 although, at heart, we remain a small and friendly club. Our membership boasts a wide range of skills and interests – not always sailing but always great fun.

Membership is open to everyone and in an effort to make water activities widely available we seek to keep annual subscriptions as low as possible.

The Clubhouse opens onto decking which offers unrivalled views of the beautiful Camel Estuary. The Clubhouse provides a base for our waterborne activities as well as our frequent social functions.

We aim to encourage anyone to take to the water in what is one of the most idyllic sailing venues on the Cornish coast. We are particularly keen to help young people gain experience on the water and run a programme of junior sailing training. A highlight of our year is the Junior Regatta, a very well supported three day event. Each year many of our past Regatta participants return to mentor the younger members. We take great pride in the number of past participants who are now very capable and impressive sailors.

Why not drop in for coffee on Saturday morning between 11.00 and Noon and gaze at the magnificent view from the decking?

During the season, when the weather is fine, you will find us at the Clubhouse two hours either side of High Water.
